Bimini!

It was a heck of a slog to get to the Bimini Islands, the first stop after crossing the Gulf Stream. These Islands are wonderful.
I think we all wish we could have spent more time here. We arrived at about 4pm in the afternoon and found Weech’s Dock to be inviting, in fact Kaymani a young local guy was waving from the end of the dock for us to come over and tie up.
Looked as good to us as any of the other docks/marinas that were close by such as Brown’s, Big Game Club etc.
Weechs was the most inviting and beacuse Kaymani was there to help in the 20+ knots of wind and 5+ knots of current, we choose Weech's. "Catchin’ Rayz" a similiar Catamaran to ours had stayed here a few weeks before us and from their account, it seemed like a good spot to dock. We were exhausted and had crazy sea legs. We needed some solid ground for a while.
Weech’s dock offers FREE WiFi, garbage removal, showers and water (water is something we take for granted at home but here in the Bahamas it is limited and valuable), and moorage is just .85 cents a foot, a price we haven’t come across again now that we are much farther South at Staniel Cay.
Weech’s is the place to be!
Thanks Eleanor and Kaymani, if we are in Bimini again, we WILL be back.

Alice Town- population 2,008
Weech’s is on North Bimini Island and the town is called "Alice Town." Alice Town has it, all but by other’s standards, probably not much at all, we Loved it, it's such a laid back place… so far, as I type from Staniel Cay, it has been our favourite stop
Golf carts are the major mode of transporation here, or bicycle.
Narrow quaint roads, small quaint shops including a hardware store not much bigger than a news stand (but Eleanor Weech has it LOADED with everything one could imagine or need), a Post Office, Customs, Immigration, Fire Dept, Police, a couple of bars/night clubs, a museum, tourist office, a bank large enough for just one teller, a liquor/Beer store, shark feeding off the public dock, guys on a fishing boat selling cheap Lobster, a great beach with a little beach bar/grill on the other side, and plenty to see in the water right off of the dock including, Sharks, Eagle and Manta Rays, many fish and turtles!
I miss Bimini already…
